The Lagos State Police Command confirmed a heartbreaking incident on Christmas Day as two brothers lost their lives due to drowning at Ibeshe Beach.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, said that the distressing episode occurred around 6.00 p.m. while the brothers were enjoying a swim with friends.
Identified as 26-year-old and 23-year-old siblings with the surname Adegboyega, the family resided in Festac Town, according to Hundeyin.
“Despite valiant efforts from friends and local divers, the attempts to rescue the brothers were futile,” Hundeyin expressed, emphasising that the police were notified following the unsuccessful rescue attempts.
Subsequently, investigative personnel from the police force visited the scene of the tragic incident. Hundeyin mentioned, “Local divers were engaged in the search operation to recover the bodies, and the family of the deceased was promptly informed.”
