TCN boosts power infrastructure in Lagos with seven new transformers

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the acquisition of seven new power transformers along with their accessories at the Akangba 330/132 Kilo Volt (kV) Transmission Substation in Lagos.

Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, the company’s General Manager of Public Affairs, emphasized, “These transformers, ranging from 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) to 100MVA capacities, are a pivotal component of the ongoing TCN/World Bank power project.”

As part of the project, these transformers are earmarked for deployment to critical substations including Alausa 132/33kV, Akoka 132/33kV, Maryland, Itire 132/33kV, and Amuwo 132/33kV Transmission Substations, significantly enhancing their power transmission capabilities.

Mbah further detailed, “While several substations will receive one transformer each, the Akoko 132/33kV Substation and Amuwo 132/33kV Substation are set to receive two transformers each.”

“The installation of these transformers is poised to substantially amplify the company’s power transmission capacity,” she affirmed.
