Lagos Police nab three robbery suspects, unravel crime ring network

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three individuals linked to an armed robbery incident involving the theft of N3.2 million and a vehicle from a woman.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson affirmed that the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) successfully tracked down and apprehended the suspects.

Hundeyin revealed, “The gang, led by Sheriff Owolabi, had been on the police wanted list following a robbery and murder incident on Aug. 19 at Ojodu Berger, Lagos.”

“Their operations extended to Ibafo in Ogun State and Ibadan, where they disposed of the stolen vehicle to a suspected receiver from Cotonou, Benin Republic,” he added.

The investigation uncovered a network of crimes involving car snatching, with the same buyer, Alhaji from Cotonou, allegedly purchasing multiple stolen vehicles in Lagos.

Furthermore, Sheriff Olakunle, apprehended in Mushin, was implicated for aiding the suspects in selling stolen phones within the area.

Hundeyin detailed the harrowing incident on Nov. 14, narrating how the suspects ambushed the victim as she was leaving her office in Oregon, Ikeja, dragging her into her Toyota car and absconding with her belongings after coercing her to transfer funds.

After extorting the money and valuables, the suspects callously abandoned the victim at Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspected receiver of the stolen items as investigations into this multifaceted crime continue.
