When Kings Behave Like Plebeians

In Africa, kingship has been considered sacred from time immemorial. We invented the Divine Right of Kings before Europe copied and popularised it. We ascribed ultimate power to the Unmade Maker under whom many gods operated. Next to the gods were the kings. Thus, in Yoruba culture, the king is, “Alase ekeji orisa” (equivalent of Read More…

From Ponmo to Premium Leather: Will Lagos’ New Hub Change the Game?

News-Analysis for Lagos MetropolitanBy Nkanu Egbe When Lagos State unveiled the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Industrial Leather Hub in Mushin this September, the fanfare was about far more than shiny machines and speeches. Officials promised 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, training for 150,000 artisans, and export earnings of US $200–250 million a year once the facility reaches full capacity. The timing is perfect: Nigeria’s leather sector is listed in the Federal Government’s diversification strategy as a “next-oil” foreign-exchange earner. But for Lagosians, the announcement intersects with a uniquely local debate—the fate of ponmo, the beloved cow-skin delicacy. For years public-health experts and economists

Wake me up when this madness is over!

By Wole Olaoye We are in a season of canonised madnesses. In this era where the old definition of decency makes no sense to the Gen-z, somebody has got to tell the truth as it is, even if it runs contrary to your psychedelic unwisdom. The intricate immoral dribbles navigated by the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, to keep Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, alias Kwam 1, out of jail led the government to also bend the law to allow Comfort Emmanson off the hook. No doubt, Wasiu is a notable Fuji musician who has made good with millions of fans in Southwest Nigeria

It also requires supporting teachers, educators, and families as they facilitate learning. Tackling the Global Learning Crisis: The Transformational Power of Reading Reading is the foundation of all learning.

The Role of Libraries in realising SDG 4 – Inclusive, Equitable and Quality Education: The West African Perspective

By Nkem Osuigwe Libraries exist within the formal and informal sectors of the learning ecosystem. They are very important to learning in schools and in the different communities where they live all over Africa. They are critical for achieving an inclusive, equitable, and quality education where no one is left behind including those who are in employment and cannot attend school full-time and/or are taking online courses. They are also critical for those who have fallen through the cracks of the educational system as school dropouts at various stages of their educational journey or out-of-school children. Before School Age Public libraries introduce preschool

What The Dentist Says

Every time I visit the dentist or any medical professional, I always go with my questions. I learned this during pregnancy when we were always encouraged to write down our questions during the week before our next antenatal visits. And for the most times, doctors are always ready to answer questions, no matter how silly they may sound. So below are some common tips worth reminding ourselves of. Rinse Your Mouth After Every meal. There's always that after smell and taste in your mouth after meals that can easily transition to foul mouth smell if not properly rinsed afterwards.Ditch The Mouthwash.
