The year is still new, and everyone is still dripping with excitement from the buzz of new beginnings, fresh starts, and hope for better results this year. Everyone is bustling with a positive vibe and energy towards accomplishing tasks. Some may struggle a bit in this area as the new year’s euphoria gradually disappears and different realities begin to surface.
In all, eyes must remain on the goals. I want to quickly share 8 tips to help you remain efficient and crush those goals.
Prioritise
You’ll have to find out which tasks are urgent, important, and not deserving of your immediate attention. This way you’re doing what needs to be done when it should be done and not sacrificing the main things.
Delegate
Now those things that are not so important or deserving of your sweat can easily be delegated to free up more space and time for you. Now and then, I remind myself I don’t have to do it all. Even if you have to pay for this, kindly consider doing it.
Realistic Goals
Some goals are realistic; others are not so much. Have it in the back of your mind that the more unrealistic a goal is, the more difficult it will be to accomplish. Make them as realistic and achievable as possible. This would also save you lots of precious time.
Break It Down
Some tasks are quite large and will need to be broken down into smaller, simpler tasks to be able to accomplish. The goal here is to look for easier ways to do difficult things. I call it the lazy man’s approach to getting it done.
Avoid Distractions
When you’ve got a lot of tasks on your plate, you may, at some point, need to say goodbye to partying, clubbing, hanging out, television, movies, and social media with all the noise and distraction they come with. This is temporal but it needs to be done. Once you’ve done all you need to do, you can splurge, indulge as you please, in all you denied yourself of.
Organise Your Space
This should probably have been no. 1 because to get a clear head and definition, you need a clear space. Nothing much can be achieved in a cluttered, chaotic environment. If anything at all, it would mess up your psyche and hamper thoughts and creativity. So organise, and declutter your space.
A to-Do List
This has been a lifesaver since 500 BC . Nothing keeps you more grounded and organised and holds you more accountable like a to-do list. You’re never escaping it. Even when you shut your eyes and turn your head away, it’s still there in your mind, popping out of every unexpected turn. You won’t rest until you do it. With a to-do list, procrastination has got nothing on you. The moment you start striking tasks off this list, you won’t stop until you complete everything on the list.
Body Clock
From the first time I heard about the Obsidian body clock, I read about it and spent some time finding out what mine was. The body clock is simply the time of day when your energy levels are highest. So you work with this time to get all your tasks done. I noticed that between 4-7 pm every day, I experience this burst of energy. So I reserve my most daunting tasks for this period. I am not a morning person; I never have been, so I always ensure that my mornings are as free as possible.
Do you know what your body clock is?
I hope you found these useful.
