Revolutionising healthcare: Gbajabiamila Clinic transforms into ultramodern general hospital

Lagos Health Commissioner, Prof. Akin Abayomi, expressed profound appreciation to the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for his instrumental role in converting the Femi Gbajabiamila clinic in Surulere into a cutting-edge 60-bed Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital, equipped with advanced healthcare facilities.

Following an inspection tour of the newly revamped hospital, Prof. Abayomi hailed the transformation, acknowledging the significant upgrade from a clinic to a multi-floor, modern hospital. He highlighted the positive impact this upgrade would bring to the overall health landscape of Lagos, expressing optimism about its contribution to enhancing healthcare access and services for residents in the area.

The Commissioner underlined the essential role of the newly expanded facility in addressing the acute shortage of bed spaces in Lagos, a critical issue considering the city’s burgeoning population. He spotlighted the hospital’s modern features, including state-of-the-art medical amenities like radiology, laboratories, specialised care units, and surgical facilities, illustrating its potential to elevate healthcare provisions in Surulere.

While acknowledging existing healthcare institutions like the Randle General Hospital and the Maternal and Child Centre in the vicinity, Prof. Abayomi emphasised the unique value that the Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital adds to the Surulere community’s healthcare ecosystem.

Anticipating commendation from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this substantial addition to public health infrastructure, Prof. Abayomi lauded the quality of construction and envisioned the hospital’s integration into Lagos’ roster of general hospitals.
