Members of the All Progressive Congress Women Presidential Campaign Team have been entrusted by President Muhammadu Buhari with working hard to ensure the party’s victory in the general elections in 2023.
The appeal was made by the president on Monday at the launch of the APC Women team in Abuja. The president stated that the call had become essential since there was no other option other than an APC electoral win in the 2023 presidential election.
Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the chief of staff for President Buhari, exhorted the team to take the party to new heights by creating and putting into action a coordinated, inclusive party strategy for an easy election victory.
The launch of the APC women’s presidential campaign committee, according to him, will be an essential part of the 2023 election.
”To this end, I call on all members of this committee to take on this great responsibility as a testament of your selfless service to the APC.
”I strongly believe that this committee will take the APC to greater heights by developing and implementing a collective and inclusive party strategy to ensure a PCS victory in the 2023 election, because there is no alternative to our victory,” he said.
The president thanked everyone on the committee and the party’s top brass for the admirable endeavour and wished the group luck in their upcoming elections.
But he cautioned that the team should never lose sight of the reality that their task consisted of touring all wards in the 774 Local Government Areas of the Federation to raise support for the party.
”The mission that lays ahead for the Committee’s is very clear, and time is not on your side. As this lunch is being hosted in Abuja, we must remember that the real work lies in far places, away from Abuja.
”The task at hand lies in over 1000 wards, and 774 local governments across the country where a party faithful will have to make a case before fellow citizens on our party’s candidate by articulating the vision and the programme for the country.
”The campaign should therefore resist the temptation for it to be turned into an Abuja activity,” he added.
The president also praised the Nigerian women for their sacrifices and loyalty to the party
He said: “Throughout my political journey, and my tenure, as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, women have remained the most loyal, the most supportive group in my mission for a better Nigeria.”
As a result, Buhari urged the women to support Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, and Kashim Shettima, the party’s vice presidential candidate, as well as other APC candidates both before and after the 2023 general elections.
The president further instructed the Minister of Women Affairs, Attorney General, and Minister of Justice to collaborate closely with the First Lady’s office and the National Assembly to guarantee the adoption of measures intended to level the playing field for Nigerian women.
The team leading the APC Women’s Presidential campaign is Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the President’s wife.
