Olivia Newton-John delivered an inspiring message to fans as she continues her brave battle with stage-four breast cancer.

The Grease actress, 72, said she wanted to speak out to offer some hope after what has been a difficult year for many people.

In the video posted to Instagram Olivia said: “I just want to wish you all the happiest and healthiest holiday season. We’ll get through this. This too will pass.”

Sharing her wishes for next year, she said: “I hope that 2021 brings us new things and better news, and just keep your spirits up and think positive thoughts, she added.

The Australian star shared news of her latest cancer diagnosis in November 2018.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and had been given the all-clear after undergoing chemotherapy and a mastectomy only for the cancer to return two decades later.

In 2013 after a car accident, the actress found out that she had cancer for a second time with doctors almost missed the tumour after attributing the pain to bruising.

Olivia insisted on additional testing which later confirmed the bump was the recurrence of her breast cancer.

Then in 2018, the star revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer for third time, which had progressed to stage 4 and spread to her back with a tumour being found at the base of her spine.

Speaking in January this year, Olivia said she was using medicinal cannabis and natural remedies as well as conventional medicines during her latest fight with the disease.

Amid her battle, Olivia took the time to pay tribute to her Grease co-star John Travolta’s late wife Kelly Preston following her death with breast cancer this year.

Kelly died in July at her family home in Florida in November at the age of 57 after she battled breast cancer for two years in secret.

Her friend and actress Olivia shared some kind words about Kelly whom she hailed as a “wonderful, beautiful spirit”.

She said: “It was obviously [hard]. Kelly was a wonderful, beautiful spirit inside and out.”

Olivia said the tragedy inspired her to continue her work on finding a cure with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation, which is researching holistic therapies for sufferers.

“It was incredibly sad strengthened my resolve and foundation, even more now,” she said during an appearance on Loose Women.

“I’ve lost a few friends in past year more determined to see a world beat cancer.”

Over the years, Olivia has stayed friends with her “lovely” and “talented” Grease co-star John.

She said: “We’re still friends. He’s a lovely lovely guy. So talented.” (Mirror)
