A traffic mishap involving a trio of vehicles led to injuries for approximately 15 commuters at Ketu, heading towards Ojota, Lagos. The incident was confirmed by Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in a statement to the press.
The emergency was reported through the state’s toll-free numbers, and LASEMA’s rapid response unit from the C3 Command and Control Centre in Alausa responded promptly. The collision, which took place beneath the Ojota Interchange Bridge around 11:40 am, involved a BRT bus (registration EXY-167XY), an articulated truck carrying a 40-foot container, and an 18-seater commercial bus (registration JJJ-439YG).
Preliminary findings suggest that the truck, en route to Ketu, veered off its path and collided with the BRT bus, which then struck the commercial bus. While there were no critical injuries or fatalities, the BRT bus and the truck’s cab sustained considerable damage.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with four receiving immediate care at the scene from LASEMA and the Lagos State Ambulance Service. Traffic flow was managed by LASEMA and LASTMA, allowing for the removal of the vehicles. The truck was towed to the LASTMA yard in Oshodi, the BRT to its Ojota yard, and the commercial bus was claimed by its owner. Following the clearance, normal traffic resumed.
