Coronation Group reinforces commitment to polo sport development in Nigeria

Coronation Group Ltd, the proud title sponsor of the 2024 Lagos Polo Tournament Silver Cup, reaffirmed its dedication to fostering the growth of polo in Nigeria during the finals of the prestigious tournament held at the Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi.

Wole Onasanya, the Chief Executive of Coronation Group, underscored the company’s unwavering support for the sport, stating, “We are committed to the development of polo in Nigeria while demonstrating our enduring support for the sport that brings us immense joy.”

The culmination of the 120th edition of the tournament witnessed a riveting final match, with Ibadan Durante emerging victorious after a spirited battle against Kano MSR.

With 14 teams from Polo Clubs across Nigeria participating, the 2024 Silver Cup tournament kicked off on Feb. 13, showcasing the nation’s vibrant polo community.

Reflecting on Coronation Group’s sponsorship of the Silver Cup, Onasanya expressed delight, affirming, “The 2024 Silver Cup has culminated beautifully, highlighting the essence of the competition and our dedication to promoting polo in Nigeria.”

He continued, emphasising the company’s longstanding tradition of supporting the Lagos Polo Club over the past seven years and its commitment to furthering the sport’s reach in the country.

Onasanya revealed Coronation Group’s upcoming initiatives, including the launch of a ‘Wealth App’ designed to encourage youth investment, showcasing the company’s commitment to empowering the next generation.

Acknowledging outstanding performances, Carl Alakija of Ibadan Durante was honoured as the ‘Most Disciplined Player’ of the tournament, while Koye Ige clinched the coveted title of ‘Most Valuable Player.’
