Davido featured on Numéro Netherlands cover amidst controversy with Tiwa Savage

Nigerian superstar, Davido, acclaimed ‘King of Afrobeats,’ graces the cover of Numéro Netherlands, marking a prestigious acknowledgement amidst his music accomplishments. The cover, featuring an exclusive fashion editorial lensed by Raul Romo, spotlights his influence and cultural impact.

Numéro Netherlands Digital celebrates Davido’s illustrious career, acknowledging his three Grammy nominations in 2023 and his initiative, the A.W.A.Y. Festival, aimed at uniting communities through the celebration of African music and culture.

The editorial lineup involved Davido as the talent, captured by photographer Raul Romo, styled by Blake Hardy, groomed by Morgan Marinoff, and curated by editor Timi Letonja under the editorial director Jana Letonja. The shoot took place at NLA Studios, encapsulating a fusion of fashion and culture.

In an unexpected turn, a petition by singer Tiwa Savage has put Davido under scrutiny. The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the receipt of the petition, stating, “We have begun the investigation.”

Savage’s petition, dated Jan. 9 and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, accused Davido of making disrespectful remarks in response to her Instagram story involving herself and Sophia Momodu, Davido’s baby mama.

Savage expressed disappointment at Davido’s alleged threats, recalling her support for his family during difficult times. She highlighted receiving calls questioning her relationship with Sophia after expressing her discontent.

Detailing the incident, Savage stated, “I responded to Mr. David Adeleke’s message and told him not to reach out to me, especially as I feel like I have been there for him and his daughter, Imade, and more importantly, when he lost his son.”

She further raised concerns about potential harassment, citing threats to her privacy, dignity, and constitutional rights, emphasising the potential violation of the Nigerian Cybercrime Act.
