LASBCA condemns escalating attacks on officials amid duties

The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Mr. Gbolahan Oki, expressed strong condemnation regarding the surge in assaults against agency officials while carrying out their official duties.

According to LASBCA spokesman Mr. Olaoye Olusegun, Oki conveyed his dissatisfaction at the agency’s headquarters in Ikeja GRA following recent attacks targeting LASBCA officials wielding dangerous weapons and charms during routine monitoring along Musical Village, Awolowo Road in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Olusegun highlighted that the perpetrators involved in the attacks had been apprehended and handed over to law enforcement for prosecution.

In Oki’s words, “These assailants not only obstruct our staff but also hold them hostage for hours, these acts of hooliganism will not deter us from carrying out our duties.”

The general manager underscored the daily challenges faced by LASBCA staff and emphasized their ability to overcome these obstacles. He commended the resilience and swift responses of the staff in overpowering assailants, preventing severe consequences, and ensuring their safety during these incidents.

Oki urged public understanding and support for LASBCA’s mission to combat the recurring issue of building collapses within Lagos State. He reiterated the agency’s dedication to maintaining and enforcing building standards, even in the face of adversities and challenges.

Encouraging collaboration, Oki advised Lagos residents to join hands with the agency in ensuring the safety and integrity of structures, fostering a secure environment for all citizens.
