The value of the Uniccon Group of Companies’ partnership with the Canada Trade Commission on “Omeife,” Africa’s first humanoid robot, is estimated at $12.6 billion.
When the Canada Trade Commissioner from Global Affairs Canada visited the group’s facilities in Abuja, Mr. Chuks Ekwueme, the group’s chairman, said this.
According to Chuks, the humanoid robot’s anticipated value was justified by its Africa-centric design and capability aspects, which were pioneering both inside and outside of Africa.
He said that the purpose of the trip was to examine potential chances for Canadian and Nigerian markets to work together on projects like Omeife and the company’s variety of cutting-edge goods and services.
Chuks said: “Since the official unveiling of Africa’s first Humanoid Robot, Omeife, the invention has garnered interest all around the world, with various prestigious organisations pledging their support in the advancement of the project.”
The chairman stated that in the future, the public, partners, investors, and organisations supporting the initiative will all own shares of the robot.
In 2023, he promised, a military version of Omeife will be released to help in gathering information and other investigation techniques.
According to Chuks, the group’s forthcoming initiatives for 2023 include specialised UAVs/drones for security monitoring; and SmartAfri, an e-commerce platform created to serve as a one-stop shop for products and services developed in Africa.
He urged the Federal Government to assist in making a database available in Nigeria that would help with intelligence collection.
“The merging of Web 2.0 (SmartAfri) and Web 3.0 (Blockchain) into one product will make it possible for people to shop on SmartAfri and make payments using the SmartAfri token.
“This is one of the reasons behind the upcoming launch of SmartAfri Chain (Africa’s 1st Blockchain technology) that is slated for the first quarter of 2023,” he said.
Temitayo Dada, the Canada Trade Commissioner for Global Affairs Canada, stated that after learning about the group’s marketable and impact-driven goods and services, the organisation wanted to explore potential areas of partnership.
The two reportedly visited the company’s facilities, including the robotics and chemistry research labs.
