Lagos police arrest 7 traffic thieves at Mile 12

Police in Lagos State say they have apprehended seven criminals who they say terrorised drivers on the Ketu-Ikorodu Expressway in the Kosofe neighbourhood.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesman, announced the arrests on Friday through his verified Twitter account.

According to Hundeyin, five individuals were apprehended on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock while they were attacking a motorist near the Mile 12 Food Market and the Kosofe Bus Stop.

“On Thursday, five traffic robbers swooped on a motorist at Kosofe Bus Stop, along Ikorodu Road.

“The Ketu Police Division’s patrol team arrested them all, and that action led to the arrest of two others,” he said.

According to Hundeyin, the suspects’ ages ranged from 18 to 28.

He reported that the division was still looking into the arrests.

Between June and August of 2022, the command detained thirty-five people on suspicion of armed robbery.

The spokesman who confirmed the number also said that, during the same time period, 13 other suspected armed robbers were slain in combat with police in various areas of the state.

It was reported that 37 separate robbery attempts were thwarted across the state over the same period.
