Relaxation of lockdown: Traders still observe precautionary measures in Lagos market

Olaniyi Balogun, Market Master of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area says all precautionary measures against the coronovirus pandemic are still observed in Ikotun market in spite of the relaxation of the lockdown.

Balogun disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday.

He said that market men and women understood that there were penalties for defaulters.

“We know that with the further ease of lockdown, it is easy to assume that we are free from COVID-19, which is far from the truth.

“We still take all precautionary measures here. Hypo soap has a stand where you wash your hands when you enter the market.

“ If you don’t have your face mask on, we lock up your store for about 30 minutes or more.

“This include the shoppers. Failure to wear a face mask will attract our patrol team; so it is either you buy a mask or you’re not allowed into the market.

“We keep educating them like we did during the outbreak of Lassa fever and they understand the dangers involved until a cure is found for COVID-19,” Balogun said.
