Lagos peaks again with 74 new cases

Lagos State once again peaked with 74 new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infections, tipping the the total number of cases over the 500 mark as at 11.25pm on Wednesday.

It had spiked on Sunday with 70 new cases before recording no new case on Monday before climbing to 59 new cases on Tuesday.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, Monday, said the high numbers of new cases being announced was no cause for alarm as it only demonstrated that government’s new measure of door-to-door testing was effective.

In a tweet by NCDC late on Wednesday, 91 new cases of COVID-19 infection was reported; 74 in Lagos, five in Katsina, four in Ogun, two in Delta, two in Edo, one in Kwara, one in Oyo, one in FCT, one in Adamawa which was coming into the prevalence map for the first time.

So far 873 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in Nigeria. 197 have been discharged, while 28 COVID-19 deaths have been reported.

As at 11:25 pm 22nd April, the breakdown of cases by state was Lagos-504, FCT-119, Kano-73, Ogun-24, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17, Kwara-10, Kaduna – nine, Akwa Ibom – nine, Borno – nine, Bauchi – eight, Delta – six, Gombe – five, Ekiti – four, Ondo – three, Rivers – three, Jigawa – two, Enugu – two, Niger – two, Abia – two, Benue – one, Anambra – one, Sokoto – one, and Adamawa – one.
