The Lagos State Government has announced the cancellation of the work-from-home policy for public servants, effective from April 1, 2025. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this decision following the implementation of the new minimum wage and other welfare measures aimed at improving the well-being of state workers.
The work-from-home initiative was introduced in February 2024 to alleviate the economic hardship caused by the removal of the petrol subsidy by the Federal Government. Under this policy, junior staff were required to report to the office for only two days a week, while senior staff continued to work daily. However, with the recent improvements in workers’ welfare, the government has deemed it necessary to revert to the traditional work schedule.
In a circular released by the Office of the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, it was stated that the cancellation of the work-from-home policy is part of the government’s efforts to enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Public servants are urged to fully rededicate themselves to their duties and ensure improved service delivery.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of this decision, stating that it aligns with the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and well-being of public servants in Lagos State. The new minimum wage and other welfare measures are expected to cushion the impact of the economic challenges faced by workers.
