UK opens Africa’s largest visa application centre in Lagos

The United Kingdom, in collaboration with VFS Global, has inaugurated its largest Visa Application Centre in Africa, located in Ikeja, Lagos. This new centre is designed to streamline the visa application process for Nigerians, offering enhanced services and greater capacity. The transition to VFS Global aims to improve efficiency and customer experience.

The centre was officially opened on November 27, 2024, and is strategically situated in Ikeja to provide easy access for applicants from various parts of the city. The UK government aims to accommodate the growing demand for UK visas in Nigeria. By partnering with VFS Global, which has extensive experience in visa services, the UK hopes to offer a more efficient and user-friendly application process.

The centre will handle all types of UK visa applications, including student, work, and tourist visas. It features state-of-the-art facilities and a streamlined process to reduce waiting times. Applicants can book appointments online and track their application status through the VFS Global website.

The UK has been a popular destination for Nigerians seeking education, employment, and tourism opportunities. The previous visa application process faced criticism for long waiting times and inefficiencies. By transitioning to VFS Global, the UK government aims to address these issues and provide a better service to Nigerian applicants.
