Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation transforms lives of Mushin primary school pupils through ‘Kit-a-Child Phase 5’

Friday, September 27th, 2024, marked an unforgettable day for 1,040 pupils across selected primary schools in Mushin Local Government Area (LGA), Lagos State, as Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF) brought smiles and essential school supplies to these young learners through its impactful Kit-a-Child Programme Phase 5. This annual initiative, timed to support the 2024/2025 school year, aims to provide educational tools to pupils from low-income households in underserved communities.

This year, CEF’s Kit-a-Child Programme expanded its outreach to several schools, including Alaba Primary School, Elizabeth Fowler Memorial Primary School, New City Primary School, Palm Avenue Primary School, Oduduwa Primary School, Estate Primary School, and Papa Ajao Primary School, all located within Mushin LGA. The foundation’s support included school bags, exercise books of various sizes, and writing materials, tailored for pupils ranging from kindergarten to primary six. Each student received supplies specifically suited to their grade level, including 40- and 60-leaf exercise books for older pupils, and 2A, 2B, and 2D books for younger students, as well as pencil pouches with pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, and sharpeners.

In a bid to widen its impact, CEF has also extended support to an additional 500 pupils from Apapa Local Government Area and low-income families across the Lagos metropolis, beginning October 9, 2024. The initiative reflects CEF’s ongoing dedication to reducing the financial burden on families and ensuring every child has access to essential tools for their educational journey.

Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, CEF remains committed to long-term solutions that uplift both individuals and their communities. “By investing in education, we are not only equipping individuals with the tools for self-sufficiency but are also fostering sustainable community development,” said CEF’s Executive Director, Mrs. Helen Egbe.

The distribution event was overseen by CEF’s dedicated team of staff and volunteers, joined by the Head Teachers, teachers, and members of the Mushin community. Many educators and parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to CEF for its support, recognising the positive impact the foundation has on underserved children. “We hope other organisations will be inspired by CEF’s actions to collaborate with schools in uplifting vulnerable children,” commented a community member.

As Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation continues its journey to create transformative educational opportunities, it remains steadfast in its mission of “transforming society, changing lives.” The Kit-a-Child Programme exemplifies the foundation’s commitment to empowering future generations and building a society where every child has the resources needed to thrive.
