Lagos announces night traffic diversion on Sura ramp for road repairs

The Lagos State Government has unveiled a night traffic diversion plan on the Sura Ramp, heading towards Osborne, to facilitate asphalt laying on this crucial section of the road.

According to the state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the repair work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. and will continue until 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

To manage traffic flow during this period, motorists coming from the Third Mainland Bridge will be unable to turn right to access Osborne. Instead, they will be directed to continue straight towards Obalende or Onikan. Additionally, drivers approaching from Sura will be unable to use the ramp and will need to turn right to connect to Onikan to proceed with their journeys.

“We ask motorists to exercise patience as this diversion is part of the traffic management strategy designed to ensure the smooth execution of the ongoing road rehabilitation and asphalt paving,” Osiyemi stated. He also expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused, emphasizing that the short-term disruption is necessary for long-term improvements.
