LASG claims refunds to 145 subscribers of Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Estate

The Lagos State Government says it has refunded 145 subscribers of the Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Estate after they opted out of the housing scheme. This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Mr. Abdulhafis Toriola, in a statement released by the Chief Public Affairs Officer, Mr. Adesile Rufai, on Monday.

Mr. Toriola explained that the delay in the estate’s completion was due to bureaucratic hurdles and vandalism. He assured that those who had fully paid but no longer wanted the property could apply for a refund.

Subscribers who have requested refunds but have not yet received their payments are advised to visit the Ministry with their original payment documents. In cases where documents have been lost, a police report and a declaration of loss should be provided.

The Ministry is carefully reviewing applications to verify the authenticity of submitted documents. Priority will be given to those who have made full payments, ensuring they receive their houses first. Subscribers who have made partial payments can either complete their payments or opt for a refund.

Additionally, Mr. Toriola announced that 576 more housing units are expected to be completed by March 2025. He emphasised the government’s commitment to providing affordable housing for all citizens and assured that further meetings would be held to address any remaining issues for genuine subscribers.

The Lagos State Government remains dedicated to resolving these matters promptly and ensuring the satisfaction of all involved parties.
