The Nigeria Police Force witnesses a significant transition as Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi assumes office as the new Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) at Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos.
Announcing the development, Zonal Public Relations Officer, SP Tunni Ayuba, stated, “Durosinmi succeeded AIG Ari Mohammed Ali, who has been deployed as the AIG in-charge, Community Policing, Force Headquarters Abuja.”
Durosinmi, a seasoned officer, officially commenced his responsibilities on Tuesday, overseeing operations within Lagos and Ogun States, as per Ayuba’s statement.
Born on Aug. 19, 1964, in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Durosinmi boasts an impressive academic background. Ayuba outlined his educational achievements, stating, “He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology/Anthropology from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.”
Continuing, she added, “Durosinmi has LLB (Hons) from Delta State University, Abraka, BL from Nigerian Law School, Abuja, LLM from Lagos State University, Ojo Lagos, and a PhD – in view Imo State University.”
Durosinmi’s journey in law enforcement began in 1990 when he joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Course 16. Throughout his career, he has held diverse roles across the nation, including positions such as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Ayuba highlighted his extensive service record, mentioning, “He is a vastly experienced police officer who has attended several courses both at home and abroad.”
The deployment of Durosinmi aligns with the Inspector General of Police’s vision statement aimed at establishing a modern police force characterized by professionalism, security, and adherence to the rule of law. His wealth of experience positions him well to contribute significantly to this objective.
Durosinmi’s assumption of duty marks a new chapter in the operational landscape of Zone 2 Command, reflecting the ongoing efforts to enhance law enforcement and community safety across the region.
