The Lagos State Government has launched the ‘Aumentum’ Land Administration Automation as a strategic initiative to revolutionise land management processes in the state.
During a recent briefing held at Alausa, Mr. Kamar Olowoshago, the Permanent Secretary of the Lands Bureau, highlighted the significance of the Aumentum Solution. He described it as a digitised platform aimed at automating land record management, streamlining property transaction registrations, and ensuring a more transparent and controlled process.
Olowoshago underscored the transformative impact of this digital innovation on the state’s management of land information and property tax revenue. He stated, “The state government has embraced a technology-driven land administration process, aligning with global standards.”
The Permanent Secretary emphasised the manifold benefits of the Aumentum Land Administration solution. It promises heightened productivity, improved revenue generation, enhanced document security, and smarter customer service delivery.
He reflected on the Bureau’s journey, commencing from the implementation of the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) in 2013 to the recent introduction of the integrated Land Administration-Automation process in 2019. Olowoshago lauded the state’s evolution in land administration, positioning Lagos as a benchmark for land management nationwide.
Acknowledging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s contributions, Olowoshago highlighted the efficiency and cost-effectiveness brought about by automation. He remarked on the previously cumbersome processes and the vulnerability of documents under the previous filing system.
The Permanent Secretary detailed the various stages of the transformation, including the movement of files for digitization, sorting into government schemes and private properties, and chronological organisation across the state’s LGAs.
To expedite the digitisation, the bureau engaged approximately a hundred ad hoc staff, enabling the transformation of manual documents into digital forms. Olowoshago highlighted the transition from manual paper documentation to a digital workflow, optimising customer service and revenue generation.
He emphasised the pivotal role played by ‘Aumentum’ in converting historical transactional records of over 250 land parcels in Lagos from paper to digital formats, significantly reducing operational costs and turnaround times.
Detailing the features of the automated process, Olowoshago mentioned the user-friendly platform, landonline.lagos.gov.ng. This platform provides a secure shopping cart experience, allows tracking of application progress, and facilitates immediate feedback on queries.
The Permanent Secretary concluded by emphasising the alignment of the technological leap with the Government’s vision of transforming Lagos into a 21st-century economy. He emphasised that the new system would streamline Bureau processes and minimise human intervention.
