Inaugurating the new operational headquarters of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) in Ikeja, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu addressed the controversies encircling the state’s procurement process, dismissing them as a distorted representation of the truth.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the unnecessary stir caused by a letter penned by an opposition figure, asserting that the state had no hidden agenda in its public spending. He emphasised the government’s willingness to embrace constructive criticism while expressing disappointment at some critics using political opposition as a veil to distort reality.
Acknowledging the recent social media uproar, the governor emphasised the administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and good governance. He appreciated genuine critiques but underscored the challenge posed by malicious misrepresentations.
The governor pointed out discrepancies in certain financial figures, clarifying instances where errors in documentation occurred but were rectified through due process. Sanwo-Olu stressed the government’s dedication to serving the people of Lagos while maintaining an open-book policy for scrutiny.
Highlighting the agency’s new headquarters as a testament to responsible governance, Sanwo-Olu reiterated the commitment to judiciously utilising allocated funds for the benefit of Lagos residents.
