Lagos State’s historic participation at Lord Mayor’s show sets stage for future collaborations and investments

EnterpriseNGR, a policy and advocacy group, asserts that Lagos State’s involvement in the Lord Mayor’s Show will pave the way for future collaborations and investments, propelling sustainable economic development in Lagos and Nigeria.

Expressing optimism, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of EnterpriseNGR, highlighted the significance of this milestone, emphasising its role in advancing Lagos towards becoming a global financial hub.

Describing the recent participation as historic, Aig-Imoukhuede noted the exceptional procession at the show on Nov. 11, marking Lagos and EnterpriseNGR as the first African participants in this prestigious event. He emphasised that this successful participation laid the groundwork for subsequent engagements, notably the “InvestLagos” reception.

He further detailed how the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC) Council, in collaboration with EnterpriseNGR, took the “InvestLagos” strategy to the global stage. This move aimed to showcase the vast investment opportunities Lagos offers, inviting foreign investors to explore and engage with the city.

Aig-Imoukhuede emphasised that the parade displayed Lagos’ progress, featuring symbols of innovation and growth integral to the city’s identity. The design incorporated elements like the Lagos Blue Line train, Nigerian cultural motifs, and iconic symbols like the Danfo and Keke Marwa vehicles, showcasing the city’s cultural richness and economic vitality.

Highlighting the significance of public-private partnerships, Aig-Imoukhuede stressed that this float portrayed not only Lagos’ resilience but also the fruitful collaboration between EnterpriseNGR and Lagos State, underscoring the outcomes of such alliances.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu affirmed that this participation was a strategic step, aligning with Lagos’ vision to position itself as a beacon of financial innovation in Africa. The LIFC Council played a vital role in showcasing Lagos’ investment potential, making a bold statement that the state is open for global business.

Echoing the sentiment, Ms. Obi Ibekwe, CEO of EnterpriseNGR, emphasised the endeavour’s significance in attracting investments crucial for sustainable development and growth in Lagos.
