Prof. Mondy Gold, a Nigerian based in the U.S., finds himself in the spotlight after being nominated for the prestigious United States President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Renowned for his role as a Business Administration professor and the President of Ijaw Diaspora Council (IDC) hailing from Delta, Gold’s nomination was officially announced in a letter penned by Dr. Agorom Dike, President and CEO of the Caribbean and African Faith-Based Leadership Conference (CAFBLC) & Liaison to the White House Faith-Based Cabinet Offices.
The nomination recognises Gold’s remarkable dedication to community development and humanitarian outreach, highlighted by his exceptional philanthropic endeavours and initiatives fostering hope and healing not only within the U.S. but also on a global scale.
Scheduled for the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Washington D.C., the 10th Anniversary of the African & Caribbean International Leadership Conference will host the awards ceremony where Gold is set to receive this prestigious honour. According to CAFBLC, Gold’s recognition stems from his role as a global influencer, humanitarian, and advocate for social justice.
“This conference aims to promote transformational leadership, civic engagement, social justice, and economic development by fostering partnerships across various sectors and with diaspora leaders and organisations,” the letter emphasised, encouraging participation from diverse nationalities, races, and ethnic groups to network and forge collaborations.
Attended by civil society leaders, faith-based figures, dignitaries, business icons, and government officials from the U.S., Africa, and the Caribbean, the event will also host policymakers from the Biden Administration. The Awards Gala during the conference will specifically honour outstanding industry, civic, faith-based, and government leaders, acknowledging their contributions to global African and Caribbean communities through development, humanitarian outreach, and initiatives fostering hope and healing.
CAFBLC expressed their intent to highlight the impact of faith-based leaders in addressing critical issues like religious liberty, humanitarian concerns, and social justice during the conference, culminating in a celebratory awards ceremony marking a decade of their annual conference.
