President Tinubu mediates in Rivers crisis, earns praise for leadership

President Bola Tinubu has taken steps to mediate in the ongoing crisis between the executive and legislative branches in Rivers State. This development was disclosed by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State during a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting, Governor Mohammed highlighted the gravity of the situation in Rivers State and the crucial security implications. He praised President Tinubu for his intervention, emphasising that it demonstrates his commitment to being a leader for all Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations.

The Bauchi State governor remarked, “He has showed that he is a president for everybody—a president for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a president for the All Progressives Congress (APC) by intervening today and bringing succour and solace to the people of Rivers.”

Governor Mohammed, representing the governors of states controlled by the PDP, lauded President Tinubu’s leadership qualities and expressed appreciation for the successful outcomes of PDP governors who have faced legal challenges. He highlighted the importance of such leadership in Nigeria.

Governor Mohammed also commended President Tinubu for his approach to political opposition, describing him as a great leader who does not use his position to suppress opposition but instead fosters cooperation. He pledged to work alongside President Tinubu to bring good governance to the Nigerian people.

Furthermore, the governor praised the professionalism of the judiciary under President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that there is a strong commitment to upholding the rule of law.
