Napoli’s talented Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, has encountered a setback due to a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty, the club confirmed on Monday.
The 24-year-old striker was forced to leave the field due to injury around the 60th minute during Nigeria’s recent friendly match against Saudi Arabia, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
While Napoli did not specify a precise timetable for Osimhen’s return, sources from Sky Sports Italia have indicated that a hamstring injury of this nature typically necessitates a recovery period of four to six weeks.
As a result of this setback, Osimhen is expected to miss several critical matches, including Napoli’s upcoming encounter against Hellas Verona scheduled for the following Saturday, the pivotal Champions League group match against Union Berlin on October 24, and the highly-anticipated clash with Serie A leaders AC Milan just five days later.
At present, Napoli stands in fifth place in the Serie A standings, with Osimhen playing a crucial role by leading the team in scoring with six goals in the league this season.
