Sanwo-Olu reiterates support for Africa Movie Academy Awards

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reaffirmed his dedication to the success of the 19th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). The announcement came through a statement signed by Tony Anih, the Chief Operating Officer of AMAA.

The prestigious continental film awards ceremony is set to take place on October 29 at the Marriot Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.

In the statement, it was revealed that Governor Sanwo-Olu first pledged his support to host AMAA for four consecutive years as a strategic partner after attending the 17th edition in 2021.

Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, representing the AMAA Board, expressed appreciation for the governor’s unwavering commitment, underscoring that it confirmed his reputation as a man of his word.

“We are delighted that Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his commitment to hosting AMAA for the second consecutive year. He fulfilled his promise last year and has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a true leader. The strategic partnership between AMAA and Lagos State serves as a shining example. The AMAA team has been collaborating closely with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to ensure the successful execution of the awards ceremony,” noted Anyiam-Osigwe.

Additionally, the statement reported that Tony Anih and show producer Kingsley James disclosed some of the activities planned for the 2023 edition of AMAA. It was also highlighted that films like ‘Anikulapo’ and ‘Mami Water’ had earned multiple nominations, promising an exciting and memorable event.
