Police nab fraudsters using dollar argument scam

Police authorities in Lagos State have apprehended a group of fraudsters who have been using a devious scheme to deceive unsuspecting passengers by pretending to argue about a stash of dollars in their vehicle’s trunk.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest of the three suspects, consisting of two men and a woman, on the Lagos mainland. A similar arrest was made on Lagos Island the previous day.

According to the police, the fraudsters would intentionally initiate a heated dispute about the presence of dollars in the car’s trunk. This ploy was designed to prompt unsuspecting passengers to intervene in the quarrel, ultimately leading to their victimisation.

The vigilant public played a crucial role in the arrests, as concerned individuals recognised the scheme and promptly raised an alarm after the suspects had picked potential victims in their Toyota Camry car.
