In Lagos, a recent police operation led to the apprehension of three suspected fraudsters, one of whom was a female, within the bustling Idumota market on Lagos Island.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police command, officially confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Hundeyin explained that the suspects were captured by the vigilant Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while they held an uncooperative victim hostage.
The victim, a 23-year-old woman whose identity is being protected, had been travelling from Gerard Road in Ikoyi to Iyana Oworo. She unwittingly boarded the suspects’ Volkswagen Vento saloon car with the registration number BDG 513 EJ, which led to her being forcibly taken to Idumota.
During the ordeal, the three suspects attempted to defraud the victim by introducing her to their purported money-doubling scheme.
Fortunately, the young lady spotted an RRS patrol team at Idumota and managed to raise the alarm, leading to the quick arrest of the suspects.
After a thorough investigation supervised by RRS Commander CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the three suspects have been charged and are set to face legal proceedings.
