Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club takes action to preserve the environment

The Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club, a distinguished constituent of Lions International District 404B2, Nigeria, demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation by planting 25 trees on the grounds of the Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Ikeja, on Tuesday.

Speaking during the tree-planting event, Mr. Sanyaolu Opeyemi, President of the club, underscored the importance of their initiative in protecting the environment from further degradation. Opeyemi noted a shortage of trees on the college premises and emphasised that the act of planting these trees was a vital step towards maintaining ecological balance and preserving the environment.

“This action is in response to the pressing need for a more sustainable environment,” Opeyemi remarked. “Furthermore, it was at the behest of the school’s administration that we undertake this project. Ozone depletion has had a discernible impact on the college, and the planting of trees will contribute to upholding the quality of the atmosphere and the overall ambience. Today, we have successfully planted over 25 trees on this property. We urge government agencies and organisations to follow suit in planting trees to continue safeguarding our environment.”

Mrs. Oluwakemi Abimbola, Second Vice District Governor of the club, and the Vice Principal for Special Duties at the college, expressed gratitude for the club’s benevolent gesture. She highlighted the importance of such initiatives as a means to serve humanity by ensuring that the environment remains comfortable and safe for all.
