Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of 12-year-old Adebola Akin-Bright, a young boy afflicted with a missing intestine. Akin-Bright, who had been receiving care at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), tragically lost his battle on Tuesday.
Sanwo-Olu conveyed his heartfelt condolences, stating, “I am saddened by the death of Adebola Akin-Bright, a promising 12-year-old boy who died at LASUTH after months of medical treatment to save his life.” The governor had recently interacted with Adebola and his mother at LASUTH and had been fully committed to doing everything possible, both humanly and medically, to save him.
He went on to express the painful nature of the loss, saying, “Adebola’s death is a painful and personal loss to me because of my commitment in conjunction with the medical team to save the boy.” Sanwo-Olu further recognised the extensive efforts made by Adebola’s mother, Mrs. Deborah Abiodun, as she went above and beyond to safeguard her son’s life.
Acknowledging the dedication of the medical team at LASUTH, the governor commended their unwavering commitment, noting that they had provided the young boy with the best medical care during his battle. He emphasised that despite their collective determination to save Adebola, they tragically lost him on Tuesday night.
Governor Sanwo-Olu then offered his prayers for the grieving family, saying, “I pray that God would give the mother and the entire family the grace to bear the irreplaceable loss of Adebola.”
