A six-month-old baby boy miraculously survived a serious accident on Wednesday afternoon at Alaka inward CMS bridge in Lagos. The incident left six passengers with critical injuries.
Eyewitness accounts report that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) promptly rescued the victims and transported them to the Primary Health Centre in Oyingbo, Lagos.
Remarkably, the bus involved in the accident did not display a number plate. Four passengers who suffered minor injuries managed to leave the scene on their own.
According to Mr. Samuel Adeoye, an eyewitness, the vehicle was speeding from the Stadium area towards Alaka. He explained, “The commercial bus, known as a Faragon, was travelling at high speed, attempting to overtake a 40ft articulated vehicle. The commercial vehicle veered onto the culvert, causing the passengers to fall and sustain injuries.”
Mrs. Aduke Fasanya, another eyewitness, revealed that the accident occurred at around 11:22 a.m. near the Alaka area of Lagos. She noted that three of the passengers had sustained broken legs. Fasanya also mentioned a dispatch rider who had been carrying jollof rice and suffered leg injuries.
Fasanya and other Good Samaritans at the scene revived a woman who had fainted after hitting her head on the culvert. They were able to collect contact information from some of the victims as they regained consciousness, advising them to check on their fellow passengers at the hospital where they were taken.
The accident response units in Lagos, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), played pivotal roles in rescuing the victims without disrupting traffic flow.
The FRSC Ipori Zone officials transported the six injured victims, including two males and four females, to the nearby Lagos State Health Centre in Oyingbo. Unfortunately, some social miscreants at the accident scene took advantage of the situation and stole belongings from the victims, including phones and cash.
