President Bola Tinubu has introduced a series of ministerial changes and portfolio adjustments, accompanied by the announcement of a new minister-designate for Niger Delta Development. These revisions were communicated in a statement issued on Sunday by Mr Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, based in Abuja.
In this latest development, the President has given the green light for the reassignment of Abubakar Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development. The Federal Ministry of Youth will soon have a minister-designate appointed to lead the ministry.
The ministers-designate originally designated for the Federal Ministries of Transportation, Interior, and Marine & Blue Economy have undergone a reshuffling, as detailed below:
- Adegboyega Oyetola has been redeployed as the Minister of Marine & Blue Economy.
- Bunmi Tunji-Ojo has been redeployed as the Minister of Interior.
- Hon. Sa’idu Alkali has been redeployed as the Minister of Transportation.
It’s noteworthy that Oyetola, Tunji-Ojo, and Alkali were initially assigned to the Ministries of Transportation, Marine & Blue Economy, and Interior, respectively.
Moreover, both Ministers of State in the Oil & Gas sector have been relocated to the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and their designations are as follows:
- Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri now holds the position of Minister of State (Oil), Petroleum Resources.
- Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo takes on the role of Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources.
Their designations within the Petroleum Resources sector have been specified as Ministers of State, Gas Resources and Minister of State, Petroleum Resources.
Additionally, the President has granted approval for the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management to the Federal Ministry of Environment. The portfolio assigned to Kaduna State has yet to be allocated to an individual.
All changes are effective immediately.
The ministers-designate are scheduled to take their oaths of office on Monday.
