The Lagos State Office of the Public Defender (OPD) has successfully rescued four young victims from the clutches of Sunday Fatoba (41) in the Ikorodu area of the state.
According to Mrs. Olubunmi Adesomoju, the Director of OPD, “the suspect is alleged to have engaged in regular sexual activity with victims aged between 11 and 14 years.” The Igbogbo Police, Ikorodu, acted promptly in arresting Fatoba ‘with the assistance of concerned citizens and community leaders.’
Adesomoju expressed appreciation, stating, “I commend the community leaders and residents for their commitment to upholding justice for the victims.” She called upon Lagos State residents to “collaborate with the OPD in tackling the concerning surge in defilement cases.”
“Stand together with the OPD against human rights violations,” Adesomoju urged, adding, “Support the safeguarding of vulnerable individuals in our society and promptly report instances of rape and defilement to your nearest OPD office.”
Furthermore, she assured informants that the OPD would “ensure the confidentiality of their identities while giving prompt attention to the information provided.”
