The Lagos State Police Command has rescued nine teenagers from an alleged forced cult initiation in the Mushin area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the rescue on his verified Twitter account on Thursday.
Hundeyin, who did not reveal the names of the victims as they are minors, said they were rescued during an initiation ceremony to become members of a cult group.
“Nine children, the youngest aged nine and the oldest aged 14, were rescued during an alleged forced initiation into cultism in Mushin, Lagos,” he said.
“We need to strengthen the family unit,” the police image-maker added.
He said an investigation is ongoing.
