The official draw for the 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup group phase will take place on Friday in Zurich, Switzerland.
The FIFA Council Bureau announced this on Monday, while also reaffirming Argentina’s intention to host the competition from May 20 to June 11.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are one of four African teams, along with Senegal, The Gambia, and Tunisia.
The original tournament hosts, Indonesia, were already eliminated, and the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) presented a new candidature.
A FIFA mission visited the South American country last week to conduct an on-site inspection.
Members of the group toured the planned tournament locations and infrastructure.
AFA has signed the hosting agreement, as well as all other essential paperwork on behalf of the host and local authorities.
Six groups of four teams will compete in the competition.
Argentina is the most successful nation in FIFA Under-20 World Cup history, having won the tournament six times, most recently in 2007.
In 2001, the country also hosted the competition.
This competition has included some of the greatest players in history, including Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Erling Haaland, and many others, since 1977.
The Official Draw will take place at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich.
