The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, urged Muslim believers on Friday to use the fasting month of Ramadan to pray for the stability and development of the nation.
In his Ramadan greeting to Muslims in the local government area and throughout the nation on Friday, Egunjobi made the request.
He exhorted followers to follow the guidance of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) throughout Ramadan and beyond.
“As we begin Ramadan fast, I urge all Muslims within and outside the council area to imbibe the teachings of the holy prophet and also pray for the nation.
“Be rest assured that the council under my watch would always partner with relevant stakeholders and security agents to ensure peace and harmony at all times.
” I pray that Almighty Allah accepts our supplications, reward us abundantly and also grants us more fruitful years of Ramadan in good health,” Egunjobi said.
In his Ramadan greeting, Dr. Kayode Omiyale, Executive Chairman of the Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), greeted all Muslim believers to the holy month of Ramadan.
All believers were exhorted to pray for the nation’s progress and unification by Omiyale.
“In this month, the wishes and desires of humans are answered by Almighty Allah.
“It is important to share with you this crucial request when we make our prayers that we should always remember our dear country, Nigeria, and our various communities in all our supplications and prayers”, he said.
In his statement, Mr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, also welcomed and commended Muslims for observing another Ramadan.
He asserts that the month of Ramadan is one in which people fast, pray, and give charity.
“It gives me great pleasure to extend my greetings to you as we begin the observance of Ramadan, a month devoted to fasting, prayer and almsgiving, honouring God and a month when the Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammed.
“The fasting and prayers that you undertake now are indeed a powerful sign of your commitment to faith and of your obedience to God.
“Your fast expresses our common hunger and thirst for a closer relationship with Allah for faith and forgiveness for justice and peace.
“I urge all Muslims across the state to offer special prayers during the period for divine peace, healing, unity and rapid socio-economic development in the land,” Ogunlewe said.
In his message, Mr. Tijani Olusi, Chairman of the Lagos Island Local Government, pleaded to God for the pardon of sins during the holy month.
Olusi prayed to God to purify hearts and make them grateful to Allah.
“I also pray for peace on earth and to brighten our lives with positivity,” he said.
In his message for Ramadan, Mr. Abdullahi Oluwa, council chairman of the Ibeju Lekki Local Government, asked the faithful to take advantage of the time to pray for the welfare and advancement of the nation.
The chairman also urged the faithful to uphold the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and to live in peace and harmony with one another.
Ramadan, according to Mr. David Famuyiwa, Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, teaches self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate.
“Ramadan encourages generosity and compulsory charity (Zakat). It also helps instil compassion for the poor.
“May I, therefore, use this great occasion to urge you all to practice the way of the Holy Prophet, the teachings of the Holy Quran and obey the primary teachings of Ramadan in order to make Nigeria a safer and better place,” Famuyiwa said.
In his message, Mr. Yisa Jubril, Chairman, Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), stated that the Muslim community celebrates Ramadan as a unique month.
“This month comes with a lot of bounties, blessings, gifts, and manifold rewards from our creator Allah (SWT).
“As we begin the holy month of Ramadan, May Almighty Allah strengthen us in carrying out his commands.
“May God let us taste the sweetness of the month, grant us, through your graciousness, that we give thanks to you, Protect us, with your protection and cover, you’re the most discerning of those who see,” he said.
Also, Chairman Isolo LCDA, Mr Olasoju Adebayo, also congratulated the Muslim faithful on witnessing another Ramadan.
“For this, I am joining my Muslim brothers and Sisters in saying “Alhamdulilai Robil Aalameen,” Olasoju said.
In his Ramadan message, Mr Kunle Olowoopejo, Executive Chairman of Egbe Idimu LCDA, urged the faithful to remember the qualities of compassion, love, and charity espoused by Prophet Muhammed.
“Let us strive to emulate the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) example of humility, forgiveness, and service to others.
“May this Ramadan bring us all closer to Allah, and may it be a time of peace, unity, and harmony for all humanity,” he said.
