Train/Bus Accident: Lagosians donate 300 blood units

Over 300 units of blood were donated by Lagos people, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to save the lives of those injured in the train/bus disaster.

On Sunday, Sanwo-Olu posted on his Facebook page that 53 people had been released in addition to those who were hospitalised.

“I am pleased to report that 53 patients that were hospitalised after the bus/train accident in Lagos have now been discharged after receiving free and quality healthcare from different state medical facilities across Lagos.

”Heeding our call for blood donation, Lagosians demonstrated true humanity with over 300 units of blood donated leading to swift action that saved lives.

”While the discharged return to their families, let us continue to keep the hospitalised patients in our prayers,” he said.

On Thursday, a train collided with a Lagos State staff bus at the PWD/ Shogunle railway line on the Agege motorway in Lagos.

In the meantime, the driver of the bus, an employee of the Lagos State Government, has asked the victims of the accident to forgive him.

Several survivors claimed the 44-year-old driver, Oluwaseun Osinbajo, disregarded the flag officers’ orders at the train line by driving with his earphone in place. Yet, the driver blamed the bus’s mechanics.
