FIFA is looking into how Salt Bae, a famous chef, got “undue access” to Argentina’s post-World Cup festivities on the field.
After the finals, Salt Bae, a Turkish chef and online personality whose real name is Nusret Gokce, shared multiple pictures of himself with the World Cup trophy.
A shot with Lionel Messi and numerous Argentina teammates was also attempted by the chef.
His appearance in the immediate aftermath of the trophy presentation has drawn significant criticism and is currently the focus of a FIFA inquiry.
A widely reported statement from world football’s governing body read: “Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on Dec. 18.
“The appropriate internal action will be taken.”
