Ikorodu LG consults on 2023 budget, pledges to do more

Mr. Wasiu Adesina, the chairman of the Ikorodu Local Government, has reassured the locals of his administration’s commitment to bringing them more development projects and democratic dividends.

At the stakeholders meeting for the local government’s 2023 budget held on Friday in Lagos at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Adesina made the guarantee.

In order to discuss topics such as development plans and other issues, the chairman met with stakeholders through the Budget, Planning, Research, and Statistics Department.

“We have embarked on and delivered many development projects in this year’s budget, among which are construction of blocks of classrooms at Salvation Army Primary School.

“Another one is the construction of drainage system at Itundomigaran and surfacing of road at the entrance of Sabo market.

“We have also improved the Primary Health Care Centre at Grammar School to a world class standard, and youths, artisans and widows have also benefited immensely in cash and kind during our empowerment programmes.

“Now we want all stakeholders to contribute in the discussion so that we would be aware of those areas that are not yet attended to and improve our efforts,” the chairman said.

He invited interested citizens to start recycling businesses in order to be self-sufficient and reassured them that this administration was committed to continuing to bring the benefits of democracy to the people.

Before the end of the year, Adesina pledged to launch a large empowerment initiative with the participation of youngsters, craftsmen, physically challenged people, and widows.

Alhaja Taofikat Allynson, the Iyaloja of Ikorodu, also spoke at the gathering and praised the chairman for his work, saying he had accomplished a lot since taking over.

She claimed that with such cooperation, more could be accomplished.

At the stakeholders conference, there were representatives from a variety of groups, including investors, market vendors, security firms, community leaders, politicians, craftsmen, and Community Development Associations.
