The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) said on Saturday that it has finished creating plans to install extra car parking lane markings in specific state locations.
This was contained in a statement by LASPA General Manager, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, issued by the group’s Public Affairs Officer, Mr. Abayomi Ariba.
Adelabu stated that the project, which will start on Monday, aimed to enhance the state’s parking system and lessen parking-related issues.
She emphasised that the agency was striving to enhance street parking in 2023 and mentioned Surulere, Ikoyi, Lekki, Obalende, Ikeja, and Victoria Island as locations where markers will be placed.
The lane markers, she said, will direct automobiles and pedestrians to suitable parking restrictions and spots, reducing indiscriminate parking, confusion, and doubt.
Adelabu stated that the project will also give people information on parking practices inside each designated setting.
She stated that those with impairments would be given extra care when the marks were installed.
The general manager asked inhabitants in the areas to be mindful of any difficulty that the markers might give them.
She stated that the state administration aims to improve its parking system as part of its traffic management and transportation goal.
According to Adelabu, LASPA has announced plans to commence full implementation of its parking rules by the second quarter of next year.
She vowed that the authority will continue to educate the public about the need of adopting a decent parking culture.
