Traffic to be disrupted in Surulere for APC rally on Saturday

The Lagos State Government has ordered a traffic diversion for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential and Gubernatorial rallies, which would take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dr Frederic Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation, said this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos.
According to Oladeinde, the rally would be held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State.
He asked Lagos residents to arrange their movements around Surulere surrounding Teslim Balogun Stadium, Funsho Williams Avenue, and Alhaji Masha.

Oladeinde stated that human and vehicular movement near the impacted regions will be limited, with a system of traffic diversions in place for safety and security management.

When travelling to Costain, Apapa, Ijora, Victoria Island, or Lagos Island, he said, traffic on Funsho Williams/Western Avenue will be routed to the express lanes at the Barracks bus stop.

People travelling to New Lagos, Surulere, the Commissioner claimed, would pass through Olumegbon.
He went on to say that traffic on Funsho Williams/Western Avenue heading into Surulere and Ojuelegba will be switched to the Stadium Bridge’s express lanes for motorists travelling to the Mushin, Palmgrove, Ikeja, Ojota, and Ikorodu regions.

According to Oladeinde, Bode Thomas and Eric Moore in Iponri Estate will be passed by traffic travelling to Surulere, New Lagos.

In order to ensure everyone’s safety, only human traffic will be permitted on Alhaji Masha Road to Akerele, Shitta Junction, and Funsho Williams from Olumegbon Junction to Alaka.

According to Oladeinde, the National Stadium would only allow entrance via Alaka for vehicles transporting party members and anyone with approved rally stickers.

“Motorists from Ojuelegba, Mushin, Palmgrove on Funsho Williams will access the National Stadium via the U-turn at Alaka.
“Also those from Surulere will access the Stadium via Adeniran Ogunsanya, Bode Thomas, Ogunlana Drive, Alhaji Masha to connect Alaka inward to the National Stadium.

“Directional signs, tow vehicles, barricades will be made available, the Traffic Management Personnel will be on standby to provide assistance and guide motorists/pedestrians during the rallies.

“Only accredited vehicles, security, emergency and essential services vehicles will be provided privileged access at the diversion points,” he said.

The Lagos citizens were praised by the transport commissioner for their tolerance and tolerance. He requested the community’s support of all the law enforcement officers tasked with carrying out their respective duties.
