Gift Okpomini, 34, was charged on Thursday in an Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State with posting vengeful pornographic content about a couple there.
The police filed three counts of conduct likely to cause a breach of trust, sending offensive or dangerous items through the mail, and theft against Okpomini, whose address was withheld.
But the accused entered a not guilty plea.
Insp. Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the prosecution’s attorney, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on November 8 at around 1:29 p.m. at No. 4 Erubami Street in the Igbogbo neighbourhood of Ikorodu Lagos.
Famuyiwa said that the defendant posted images of Mr. and Mrs. Okaweze Osbert on Tiktok Nigeria, labelling them as thieves and criminals while knowing that this was untrue.
This was done with the intent to disturb the peace, according to Famuyiwa.
Additionally, according to the prosecutor, between August 1 and August 8 at Ogunlewe Street, the defendant converted N67,000 from the Gab Lotto and sold N5,195 from the Wesco Lotto.
He claimed that the offence violates sections 259(b), 168(d), and 287(7) of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N50,000 by the magistrate, Mr. A.O. Ogbe, with a guarantor in the same amount and a verifiable address.
He put the case on hold until December 8 for mention.
