Aisha Buhari, the first lady, has asked all APC (All Progressives Congress) members to work together to support the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign in the next 2023 election.
In Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, Mrs. Buhari gave a speech at the opening of the APC Women and Youths Wing of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign team.
She went on to say that the party ran a distinctive campaign for the 2015 and 2019 elections and that it is resolved to do the same and win the upcoming elections.
”The women and youth presidential campaign committee have become a movement by proving to be the game changer, leading a door-to-door campaign which led to a victory for APC at the 2015 presidential election.
”The victory is largely attributed to the tenacious efforts of young men and women of our party who drove out in unprecedented numbers to vote for our party in 2015 and 2019 Presidential elections and we hope history will repeat itself in the 2023 elections.
She asked APC women and youth to ensure a door-to-door campaign for the success of the party in the polls in order to maintain the enthusiasm and spirit used in the past electioneering campaigns.
The first lady urged Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu to unite with all party members and run a ferocious campaign as she received the party flag to begin the start of the nationwide campaign.
”I have today by my side, the wife of the presidential candidate and the wife of the Vice Presidential Candidate. I’m going to hand over a flag of success, a flag of victory, commitment, progress and unity to them.
”As I hand over this victory flag, I want you to move from zone to zone, state by state and seek for votes for the APC in order to deliver our candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she said.
She urged young women and men in Nigeria to support the APC in its resolve to complete the ongoing project it began for the good of all Nigerians.
”APC is making progress in the field of women empowerment and with APC the future of women and youth of Nigeria is assured.
”Affirmative action is (has been) a work in progress since the 1990s and we are happy because the foundation on which the incoming APC administration will crown our efforts has now been laid,” she said.
The launching of the women and youths campaign team, according to Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the APC presidential candidate, gave her even more assurance that her country is a cohesive, industrious, and peaceful one.
If Tinubu and Shettima win the upcoming election, Tinubu assured the crowd that they will continue to support the least fortunate Nigerians, particularly in the fields of female child education and youth empowerment.
The wives of the governors of the states under APC rule were present at the ceremony.
