The remains of an adult male were discovered at Plot 1114, Adeola Odeku St. in Victoria Island, Lagos, according to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LASFS).
According to a statement issued by the organisation on Tuesday in Lagos and signed by its director, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, an industrial generator caught fire and caused the fire to spread.
She stated that the incident was reported to the fire department at around 10.03 a.m.
According to Adeseye, the fire destroyed a Toyota Salon Car that belongs to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Nigerian Police’s Lagos Command, which was stationed outside the building.
“Unfortunately, a male adult severely burnt beyond recognition was recovered from the scene and his charred body had been handed over to the Bar-Beach Police Division of the Police Command.
“Fortunately, the four-storey-commercial building where the incident occurred was saved by the Fire Service personnel and the RRS policemen escaped unhurt,” the director said in the statement.
She promised that more reports would be made public as soon as the inquiry into the incident’s cause was finished.
