A 17-year-old has been charged with two counts of alleged drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
In a charge sheet signed by NDLEA prosecutor Mr. L.N. Nor, the NDLEA claimed that the youngster had committed the crime on October 3 in the Lagos neighbourhood of Ikorodu.
He said that the young person colluded and illegally smuggled 3 kg of cannabis.
Cannabis is a narcotic equivalent to cocaine, heroin, and other psychotropic drugs that are all forbidden under the NDLEA schedule, the prosecution claims.
The NDLEA claimed that the offence was against the NDLEA Act’s Sections 11(c) and 14(b), Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
If found guilty of the crime, the Act provides a life sentence in prison as the punishment.
The young person’s arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
