In light of the security alert issued by the US Embassy on a potential terror assault on Abuja, the Department of State Services (DSS) has urged Nigerians to take the appropriate safety measures and exercise caution.
The DSS’s public relations officer, Dr. Peter Afunanya, made the call in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
He reminded them that the DSS has previously issued similar advisories and encouraged them to maintain calm and awareness.
“While advising that necessary precautions are taken by all and sundry, the populace is enjoined to remain alert and assist security agencies with useful information regarding threats and suspicious criminal acts around them,” he added.
Afunanya stated that the service collaborated with other law enforcement organizations and interested parties to uphold law and order within and outside of Abuja.
Targets for the attack may include governmental structures, houses of worship, schools, markets, and shopping centers, according to the US Embassy security warning alert released on Sunday.
Others, according to the statement, include accommodations, nightclubs, dining establishments, sporting events, transportation hubs, police stations, and foreign organizations.
