Average petrol price in September was N191.65 per litre – NBS.

Consumers spent on average N191.65 for a litre of fuel in September, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) made public on Saturday.

According to its “Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch” for September 2022, the average price was N164.85, up 16.26% from September 2021.

“When compared to the previous month of August 2022, the average retail price climbed from N189.46 by 1.15 percent.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics’ assessments of state profiles, Kano State paid the highest average retail price for gasoline in September at N207.50, followed by Jigawa at N205.62 and Bayelsa at N204.27.

In contrast, consumers in Delta paid the lowest average retail price for gasoline in September—N179.74—followed by Edo and Borno, both at N183.17 and N184.50.

Analysis by zone revealed that, in September, the Northeast had the lowest average retail price at N186.52 and the Northwest had the highest at N197.51.

The average retail price paid for a litre of diesel in September 2022, according to the NBS’s “Diesel Price Watch,” was N789.90.

The N254.64 per litre pricing from September 2021 had increased by 210.20 percent, according to the statement.

On a monthly basis, the N786.88 per litre reported in August 2022 was increased by 0.38 percent in September 2022.

According to assessments of state profiles, Ondo State had the highest average diesel price in September 2022 at N859.23, followed by Ebonyi at N849 and Niger at N841.67.

On the other hand, Katsina State had the lowest price, at N710 for a litre of diesel, followed by Yobe at N725 and Bayelsa at N726.67.

The North-Central had the highest price for diesel at N811.24 per litre, according to the NBS, while the South-South recorded the lowest price for diesel at N762.74 per litre.
